Being quiet, low energy, fairly calm indoors, and polite with the other residents are all good qualities in an apartment dog. Plenty of small dogs are too high-energy and yappy for life in a high-rise. Opting for a pet that doesn’t bark excessively and behaves politely when interacting with others in shared spaces like elevators, stairs, or lobbies is essential. However, it is crucial to be mindful of your neighbors’ comfort when selecting a dog. On the other hand, certain small dog breeds with high energy can be content with indoor playtime or a brisk walk. While some large breed dogs can adapt well to apartment living and have lower activity levels, preferring to relax on the sofa, others require more space and have higher energy levels, making them less suitable for smaller apartments. It’s important to note that the size of your living space is not the sole consideration. When living in an apartment, individuals have a wide range of dog breeds to choose from as potential pets. All of our dogs are hip and elbow scored, and have eye checks every year. We health test all of our dogs to a high standard, meeting and sometimes exceeding the required and recommended testing. We use them on our own girls first, so we know they are ready and able to produce wonderful puppies. We also have some stud dogs, fine examples of their breeds who have all passed their health tests and have lovely personalities. Some of our previous puppies are training to be therapy dogs, gun dogs and some are doing well in agility, while others are much loved members of the family. Our goal is to breed healthy, confident puppies that go on to make excellent working companions or active family pets. ![]() We have a diploma in dog breeding and are currently undergoing several other qualifications involving dog training and first aid. Our animal welfare licence number is AW078. This means that the KC and the fenland council have inspected our premises and dogs and are very happy with their standard of living. In 2017 we became KC assured breeders, and in 2020 we received our dog breeding council licence, gaining the highest rating possible for a first time licence holder. More pictures of them can be found on their pages, and on Instagram (Russbaca_Retrievers) The dogs live on our working farm in the fens, where they hear all the normal sounds of the countryside like birds and tractors. Since then, we have expanded to Golden Retrievers and Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retrievers. Despite the lack of sleep and impressive amount of poo, we decided we quite liked raising puppies, and have been doing it ever since. We began breeding in 2016 with our much loved Labrador, Coco. ![]()
